Facilitated by Support Groups Queensland, the Logan Dementia Choir and the Alliance are building a community of support for people with dementia and their families in Logan. The choir gets together weekly to sing and connect with others going through the same experience. The alliance builds resources, connections and promotes a dementia friendly community. We need donations to support our volunteers, pay for music therapy, morning tea, room hire and other ongoing costs.
Your donation will enrich the lives of people living with dementia while supporting their family/friends in the journey. Research indicates that the benefits of singing for people with Alzheimer's (the leading cause of the 230 kinds of dementia) are: reducing stress, anxiety and agitation. The last cognitive abilities of someone with dementia are musical aptitude and musical memory. Other activities of the alliance include information stalls, the dementia friends training program and growing the dementia friendly supports for the Logan area.
Your donation is greatly needed. We need to build a consistent and long term resource base to assist local people through one of life's most difficult journeys.
