About this cause

The Invisible Made Visible

Every week, through The Yoga Foundation’s trauma-informed yoga programs, we witness meaningful change: someone beginning to feel safer in their body, finding connection, rebuilding trust or simply experiencing a moment of calm.

The Invisible Made Visible was created to give expression to those changes that can be deeply felt, but difficult to explain.

Through art, poetry, photography and other creative works, participants from our programs are sharing what yoga, connection and recovery mean to them. Their works sit alongside pieces generously donated by acclaimed Australian artists, all coming together to help raise funds for the next chapter of our work.

The response from our community has already been extraordinary. Participants, teachers and our partner organisations have embraced the exhibition in ways we never anticipated, reminding us that its impact began long before the doors even opened.

Funds raised through The Invisible Made Visible will support five areas that are especially important to us:

  1. Supporting Women After Domestic Violence
Women recovering from domestic violence are one of the largest groups we support across several community locations. With your support, we will be able to fund and continue successful existing programs, providing the consistency and reliability these women need, while also reaching more women through trauma-informed yoga.
  2. People Experiencing Homelessness and Mental Health Challenges
For people experiencing homelessness and mental health challenges, having something regular and dependable can matter deeply. We see the shift that a consistent yoga practice can bring, offering moments of calm, connection and practical tools participants can carry with them beyond the class.
  3. Girls Aged 13–17 Experiencing Homelessness
For the past four years, The Yoga Foundation has taken girls living in transitional housing on a yoga and mindfulness getaway. For many of us, time away like this can feel ordinary, but for these girls it can be something they have never experienced before: a rare opportunity to step away from everyday stresses, slow down and simply enjoy being together. We have already received a generous donation towards this year’s getaway, and with additional support we can make the full experience possible again.
  4. Older Generations
As people grow older, opportunities for meaningful connection and movement can become fewer, particularly for those experiencing isolation or disadvantage. We want to bring trauma-informed yoga to more older people, creating a place to move, connect and feel valued, while nurturing wellbeing and a sense of belonging later in life.
  5. Supporting a Young Woman to Begin Her Yoga Studies
Several years ago, a young woman came to yoga with her mum and sister through one of our valued domestic violence services and fell in love with the practice. Now 19, she hopes to begin her yoga studies, with a dream of one day sharing what she has discovered with her own community and beyond. We would love to help make that next chapter possible.

Every donation, whatever its size, helps us continue this work and create opportunities like these.

By supporting The Invisible Made Visible, you are helping ensure that the stories expressed through this exhibition are not where the impact ends, but where something new can begin.

Thank you for helping us make the invisible visible. ❤️
