Canberra Youth Theatre isn’t just a company – it’s a community. A place where young people come together to make art, spark creativity, and find their people. Every year, nearly 500 young Canberrans pass through our doors to tell their story, as part of a legacy we’ve been creating for over 50 years.
The 12 Hour Theatre Project is the biggest day of our year, and it represents everything we want Canberra Youth Theatre to stand for. Accessible, challenging, and creative theatre for young people – with a life long impact. 60 young artists come together to create three brand new pieces of theatre, in just 12 hours. To make sure that all young people can access our programs like these, this year, we’re going to raise $12,000 in 12 hours, on the 12th April. This money will go straight towards lowering financial barriers to accessing the arts, and letting every young artist in Canberra know Canberra Youth Theatre is the community for them.
By investing in the arts, you are helping build connection, creativity, resilience, and a profound sense of belonging in our next generation. Over these 12 hours we’re asking those who can give back, to do so – all while we make three crazy and exciting pieces of new work in the background.
