In October 1997, ten passionate and dedicated community volunteers came together to create a movement to "achieve equality and social justice for lesbians and gay men". They formed the Victorian Gay and Lesbian Rights Lobby (VGLRL) with the support of the Victorian AIDS Council/Gay Men's Health Centre, ALSO Foundation, Homodefactos, and Midsumma to fight discrimination and for equality.
While our mission has expanded and our name has changed, we are still fighting the good fight after 25 years of continuous operation as a volunteer-run, independent, LGBTIQA+ community-controlled organisation!
But now we need your help to ensure that we can continue to operate for the next 25 years.
As a non-profit run entirely by volunteers, your financial contribution fuels our advocacy, projects, and campaigns. We are ineligible for many grants and DGR status as a result of our lobbying activities. Without your contributions, there would be no Victorian Pride Lobby.
So, if you can, please buy us a birthday present to help us celebrate this remarkable milestone!
