At ActNow Theatre we specialise in crafting socially conscious performance projects that spark dialogue and drive positive change in our community. This year, we are embarking on our most ambitious project to date, and we need your support to make it a reality!
An urgent crisis
Just over 1 in 4 women experienced partner violence or abuse (27%) as reported by the Australian Bureau of Statistics in the 2021-2022 Personal Safety Survey. On average, one woman is killed every nine days by a current or former partner. In 2024, this figure is rapidly on the rise and Anthony Albanese has held an emergency national cabinet to address this national epidemic.
The Federal Government’s National Plan to End Violence against Women and Children 2022–2032 explicitly outlines the importance of early intervention to support young people.
Our upcoming production Josh and Sophia Don’t Play Together Anymore aims to do just that.

Josh and Sophia Don’t Play Together Anymore is a primary school show crafted to support young people in fostering healthy relationships from an early age. We are developing a work to explore healthy relationships, emotional literacy, safety and consent, to plant a seed that could help prevent destructive behaviour in the future.
Made in collaboration with Cirkidz, the production is supported by the Zahra Foundation, Relationships Australia South Australia and White Ribbon. The consultation these expert organisations are providing is helping us to make sure Josh and Sophia Don’t Play Together Anymore will make a big impact.
