In the lead-up to the upcoming federal election, uncertainty has increased among clients at the Centre for Asylum Seekers, Refugees and Detainees (CARAD) – some of the most vulnerable members of our community.
Refugees and people seeking asylum face enormous challenges in Australia, including limited income support, barriers to healthcare, housing instability, and trauma.
‘CARAD has been there for me, and they continue to ensure that I don’t miss my medication and doctor to prescribe me the medication I need. This year I was homeless and needed a place to stay. CARAD came to my rescue...I have room where I continue to practice my painting, and I feel I have a purpose, and my life has a meaning. I want to say my quality of life has tremendously improved because of these services I receive from CARAD,’ — CARAD client
In the humanitarian sector, CARAD is often referred to as, ‘the service provider of last resort’ for people seeking asylum in WA, providing vital support such as accommodation, healthcare, food security and material aid to those who have been forced to flee their homes and seek safety in unfamiliar lands. CARAD envisions a welcoming Australia where refugees and people seeking asylum can rebuild their lives and are treated with compassion and respect.
For 25 years, CARAD has been helping thousands of people fleeing persecution looking for safety in WA, but we couldn’t do this work without the financial support from community members like you. Even the smallest donations can have significant impact and all gifts of $2 and above are tax-deductible.
Your support today creates ripples of positive change that extend far beyond immediate assistance – it gives CARAD clients the foundation they need to rebuild their lives with dignity and hope.
