YOU MAY NOT KNOW WHO WE ARE OR WHAT WE DO BUT, WE TOUCH, ENRICH AND ENLIVEN THE LIVES OF TEACHERS AND THEIR STUDENTS ACROSS THE COUNTRY, IN EVERY SUBJECT AND AT EVERY AGE. We speak weekly to a loyal database of over fifty thousand teachers and their more than 1 million students, and we do that throughout the full school year, every year.
ATOM (Australian Teachers of Media) is a not for profit with full charitable status. We have been servicing Australian school teachers and their students for more than 60 years. We have published Australia’s longest running screen review magazine METRO and Screen Education for most of that time and run the highly regarded Atom AWARDS and Schools Competitions for 40 years and our EDUCATION SHOP has now been operating for close to 20 years.
This is all built on the principle of supporting Australian made screen, media, arts, cultural and educational content, the producers, and their works, and to share that as widely as possible with our children, and their teachers, as they teach and learn.
We have done this with very little government support.
ATOM IS NOW REBUILDING TO DELIVER A BETTER SERVICE TO ALL OUR TEACHERS AND THEIR STUDENTS.
We offer an EXTRAORDINARY range of Australian made digital and physical education resources across all curriculum subjects.
The public touch point to what we do is The Education Shop. The Shop houses one of the largest collections, in the Southern Hemisphere, of digital and physical educational resources covering Australian made screen media, arts, cultural and educational content. We offer books, DVDs, streaming content and the highly regarded and valued ATOM Study Guides to support the use of AUSTRALIAN made content in classrooms from primary and secondary to tertiary.
We also connect with industry professionals and community groups.
We do this across Australia and around the world.
ATOM also run three annual creative media competitions for Australian schools/students in film, photography and writing. We love supporting the talents and work of students and emerging artists. But due to funding constraints, ATOM will be taking a break in 2023 from hosting these competitions.
NOW WE NEED TO STEP UP TO THE FUTURE; develop new markets and relationships; grow institutional partnerships; streamline our on-line presence and accessibility and amplify our offer.
We are a small operation run a by a dedicated team of professionals whose passion is to service the education sector and service it well.
With this in mind, we have developed, and will continue to develop, new institutional partnerships. We are creating new opportunities.
We now have key partnerships with major national screen Institutions such as, ACMI (Australian Centre for Moving Image), ACMI Education and ACMI X, and The Australian Academy of Cinema and Television Arts – AACTA.
And we are working to extend our partners, all built on the principle of supporting Australian made content and to share that as widely as possible with your children, and their teachers, as they teach and learn.
Our vision is to offer all those wishing to utilise Australian made content as an education tool, the best and most complete library of resources across all curricula and interests.
Our mission is to build and maintain The Education Shop, our Awards and Competitions and our Publications to be a responsive, dynamic and up-to-date. To be user friendly portals to high-quality material that reflects the scope and depth of Australian made content.
TO ACHIEVE THIS EVOLUTION, WE NEED TO DO MUCH WORK:
YOU MAY NOT KNOW WHO WE ARE AND WHAT WE DO, BUT WE TOUCH, ENRICH AND ENLIVEN THE LIVES OF TEACHERS AND STUDENTS ACROSS THE COUNTRY IN EVERY SUBJECT AND AT EVERY AGE and we do this with pride, commitment and dedication.
