About this cause

Our mission is simple. To gift to people in their final chapter of life, the chance to experience something deeply meaningful to them. Whether it is returning to a special place, reconnecting with loved ones, or, like Brett saying hello to an old friend.

Retired zookeeper Brett moved from Perth to Adelaide 30 years ago. One of his fond memories was caring for Permai the elephant at the Perth Zoo. In January 2025, Permai relocated from Perth to Monarto Safai Park in SA. Brett’s Ambulance Wish was to spend time with Permai again. Ambulance Wish SA was delighted to provide Brett the opportunity to spend time with his old friend creating many lasting memories for Brett and his loved ones.

Behind every wish like Brett’s is a team who plan and coordinate the clinical care, specialist medical transport and wish photography to ensure the quality and safety of the Wish. The team and equipment including nurse escort, photographer, trained volunteers, specialised equipment, vehicle and creation of the memory book cost an average of $2,000 per wish. While SA Health fund our staff, each wish relies on donations to make it a reality.

As one supporter shared:

“What a beautiful project. I would have loved my parents to have one last wish with Ambulance Wish SA. It didn’t happen, but I want this for anyone else who needs it. These memories live on with the family and friends left behind.”

Now is the time to show your support. Donate before 30 June 2025 to make your Tax Deductible EOFY donation to Ambulance Wish SA. Help us create more memories that will live on in the families and friends of South Australian’s living with a life-limiting condition.
