An estimated one million Australians live with Fibromyalgia and associated pain and fatigue conditions, however, there are limited research, services, support and information available. The gaps between research and daily care are unacceptable and place patients at risk of unnecessary dsiability, loss of income and support.
Your contribution to this fund will help to support Australian researchers and extend a Clinical Research Centre to provide and evaluate, early diagnosis, asseesments and multidisciplinary management for people living with Fibromyalgia.
This Fibromyalgia Australia Research Fund is working to:
. support researchers evaluating new tests and treatments
· fast-track research to improve clinical care, diagnosis and management
. train and distribute resources for health providers to increase the number of Australian General Practices providing Fibromyalgia management
· promote and advocate consumer research priorities
. faciliate preliminary pilot studies of nurse lead management and telelhealth to streamline care and prevent unnecessary disability
· improve case management, appropriate referrals and treatment outcomes
· identify wider Australian research projects, biobanks and databases relevant to Fibromyaliga, that could be extended to Fibromyalgia
· collaborate with other interstate and international groups to improve the research, knowledge and awareness of individuals and communities
· build Australia-wide multidisciplinary care teams to provide up-to-date patient centred care

. fund research to validate new test and treatments
· facilitate training and resourcesfor providers and consumers
· provide up to date information to improve patient care
· provide a central contact point for patients, their providers and researchers

· support young researchers to build their profile
