The Brisbane Baroque Players believe in accessible and engaging live music; educational opportunities in baroque performance practice; and support for young Australian musicians.
We acknowledge that the Australian public can feel alienated from the classical concert hall and are committed to breaking this barrier in our own projects. We also recognise that there are limited opportunities for education and experience in historically-informed performance practice in Queensland and aim to provide this platform, while also allowing young Australian musicians the opportunity to perform and gain exposure in our concert series, as soloists and/or ensemble members. Members of the association are volunteers who receive instrument hire, tutelage and performance experience as part of their membership. Our public concerts offer engaging performances for an accessible ticket price, and frequently feature upcoming Australian soloists. All of our activities involve large costs such as venue hire, public liability insurance, instrument hire and marketing. Our organisation is rarely supported by the government, we rely on the members of the public who believe in sustaining the arts in Australia. Any support is greatly appreciated!
