Hello friends,
It is mid winter and temperatures continue to drop! June ofcourse marks the end of another fiscal year for most, and we are using it as an opportunity to reflect on all that we do through numbers. I acknowledge that this time can also be confronting on many registers as we prepare for another year in a precarious sector and ourselves seek sustainable ways to continue a small piece of the work that we do in the broader ecology of arts we are all either a part of or benefit from.
At the Centre for Projection Art like many of our peers we prepare for another year and continue to improve on what we do and grow the scope of the work we do with care. In 2022 and the first half of 2023, we have supported over 90 artists in practice and with paid opportunities, community projects through considered collaborations and multiple activations in public spaces and the beloved projection festival on Gertrude Street. We have connected with and supported local arts organisations to realise their independent projects alongside holding artists in residencies, technical workshops and masterclasses. Our aim to create literacies in new media and technology based artistic practice is central to our work and we believe in working intersectionality across visual art, community engagement, performance, theatre, installation and experimental arts. We continue to push boundaries of artistic expression, captivating existing and new audiences, driving cultural practices through carefully curated public programs and creative development processes.
WHY SUPPORT US?
The Centre for Projection Art has a strong history of project based funding however we have no core funding to support our operations in a sustainable way. We have ofcourse found strategic ways to continue the work we do however we are always unstable and working beyond individual capacities to stabilise the foundations of our organisation.
Your support will help sustain the Centre for Projection Art, driving the transformative power of art in public spaces. The Centre for Projection Arts works intimately with both emerging and established artists, providing platforms to showcase their vital visions. We work directly with development and curatorial opportunities through our Artist-In-Residence, education and community collaborative programs. Publicly we generate immersive installations, interactive experiences, and invigorating live activations, pushing ways that art is experienced through accessible contexts.
Your contribution goes towards supporting artist and staff fees, equipment, and creating a suite of engaging programs that nurture artistic talent from a range of backgrounds and disciplines which reach a huge audience. Your tax deductible donation makes a valuable impact on the fabric of our organisation enabling us to continue to engage with artists, collaborate with the community, develop thoughtful programs, with peers and partners. $50 or $5000, everything makes a difference and secures our future.
HOW WILL YOUR DONATION MAKE AN IMPACT?
$5000
will go back directly into supporting our residency program securing a position for two artists for over 6 months with conceptual and technical mentorship to develop a new work and increase their understanding to work with projections, new media and technology based installations.
$2500
will fund the logistics and production to support the curation and realisation of the commissioned work in a medium - large scale outcome that will help the artists build their portfolio or develop a community based project in collaboration with our local partners.
$1000
will support Centre for Projection Art to support the artists to work with an established writer to generate new knowledge or fully fund an emerging community based artist to develop their concepts alongside CPA curatorial staff.
$250 - $500
will fund an artist fee for a public program and a digital presentation.
$50 - 100
will contribute towards CPA operational costs to support our programming.
All donations over $2 are tax deductible.
With gratitude,
Priya
