Victoria State Emergency Services (VICSES) Chelsea Unit needs your support to maintain the standard of emergency response we provide to the community.
Who are we?
Chelsea Unit has been continuously assisting the community for more than 60 years, providing support during storm and flood events. The unit is made up of 52 volunteers.
In 2014, our dedicated volunteers attended 429 requests for assistance (RFAs).
Although, the City of Kingston is our main area of operation, Chelsea Unit has assisted other units and emergency services in numerous occasions.
Examples of the assistance we have provided include:
- Support in the West Gate Bridge collapse in 1970;
- Cyclone Tracey recovery in 1971;
- Ash Wednesday 1983;
- Black Saturday 2009;
- Melbourne Storm 2011;
- Cyclone Yasi 2011;
- Christmas Day hailstorm 2011;
- Plane crash incident in Chelsea, October 2014.
- Searches for missing persons;
- Hastings storm event in January 2015;
- Hastings fire event in January 2015.
How will the funds be used?
- To recruit more members and train them;
- To maintain and upgrade our emergency vehicles;
- To purchase and maintain equipment.
