Circus in the Park

Circus in the Park is Gasworks Arts Park's annual flagship outdoor circus show since 2021, held in an open-air theatre on the park's grassland at the beginning of the year. Over the past two years, many fabulous circus and cabaret talents at different career stages have graced the outdoor stage with spectacular performances, bringing thousands of people to enjoy a post-pandemic fun time in the fresh breeze and under the romantic starry skies. It is one of the Park's most popular and celebrated events.

Why support Circus in the Park 2023?

1. Accessible, covid safe, and inclusive circus performances

While we have learnt to live with the virus, there are many in the community are still unable to return to the theatre to enjoy the beloved programs due to various health reasons for themselves or their family. That's why this year, for the third year in a row, we have been setting up outdoor Covid-safe circus performances for more people to be amazed as you do, without hassles.

Everyone wants to create great memories for the people they care about, and so does Gasworks to the community. We, therefore, are planning to expand our offering from previous years to 12 sessions with two fabulous shows in the Circus in the Park 2023 – an inclusive arts experience that is enjoyable for people from all walks of life. In addition to a newly developed all-ages show Suitcase Circus that welcomes families and kids, we will also present Hot Summer Nights! – an after-dark variety show for audiences aged 15+ that highlights the brightest talents of LGBTQIA+ artists.

2. Cultivate creative excellence

You will be a hero to the brilliant artists with a large part of your contribution will go towards backing them in achieving artistic excellence on stage. Gasworks as the organiser reputed in artist development and quality programs will ensure your donation goes well towards supporting the growth of the best circus and cabaret performers with the most potential and passion.

3. The key pillar behind-the-scene

A project with this impactful vision and scale requires a solid and reliable physical infrastructure. You will play a crucial part in enabling this by supporting the touring, hire and installation of the outdoor stage, the circus rig, as well as the lighting and audio equipment. We will be able to install the fixed raked seating to provide an enhanced audience experience by improved sightlines too. The performers' talents can be fully expressed and appreciated, and they can be assured of a safe stage for their difficult performances with your solid back.
