We are raising funds for a much needed school bus for Don Bosco Technical Centre in Alafua, Samoa!  

The school currently only has a pick up truck to transport students and it is a dangerous mode of transportation. 

Principal Mane Su'a outlines why the purchase of a bus is so important for the safety and well being of our young people: 

Firstly, the truck is simply not suited for transporting students. It lacks the proper safety features and amenities that a dedicated school bus would provide. This becomes especially problematic during inclement weather, when the truck provides inadequate shelter and poses greater risks to our students. The truck's limited capacity has led to delays in picking up students in the mornings, causing many to struggle to arrive at school on time. This disruption to our students' routines is unacceptable and can have negative impacts on their academic performance.

Secondly, the use of the regular public bus system by our students has led to disputes and arguments between our students and those from neighboring schools who also utilize the public bus. A dedicated school bus would provide a safer and more controlled environment for our students, shielding them from these unwanted conflicts.

Thirdly, although the use of the truck has helped to alleviate some of the challenges, this current practice is not entirely effective. The public buses have at times been delayed, further disrupting our students' arrival to the school campus.  I recognize that acquiring a dedicated school bus would provide a more reliable and controlled transportation solution that better promotes the safety and security of our student body.

We are asking everyone in our network if they are able to donate the cost of a day of public transport. In Victoria a student pays $5.30 to travel to and from school. If we are able to mobiles our network of Salesian schools and friends to all donate the cost of a day of public transport we can make this happen for our students in Samoa.
