Everyone knows how much I have loved my blonde locks and this is why on my birthday this year, the 16th of May, I will be shaving my head for Family Violence Freedom. 

As many of you know, the children and I have been victims of domestic violence which ended in 2023. I would like to raise much needed funds for the incredible organisation that supported myself and my three children through 12 months of what felt like hell. The children and I are now Free thanks to the FVREE organisation and I can't thank the individual case workers and therapists that we worked with enough. FVREE supports women like me who decide to stand up to their partners abuse and start a new life. I couldn't have done it without this organisation. 

Current Australian statistics state that: 

- 1 in 4 (23%) women have experienced physical and/ or sexual violence from an intimate partner since the age of 15.

- 23% of women have experienced emotional abuse by a current or previous partner. 
- 16% of women have experienced economic abuse from a current or previous partner. 

 FAMILY AND INTIMATE PARTNER VIOLENCE DISPROPORTIONATELY AFFECTS WOMEN, CHILDREN AND MARGINALISED PEOPLE. IN VICTORIA, AND ACROSS AUSTRALIA, PREVALENCE, SEVERITY AND DISCLOSURES ARE INCREASING. THIS CAN AND MUST CHANGE.

The work FVREE do is nothing short of inspirational and honestly the lifeline you need when you escape family violence. I just hope that this fundraising can support another mother and children through what feels like a unsurmountable task!
