Hi everyone

I'm going to volunteer in Uganda in August with I Am Someone, a not-for-profit organisation running grassroot community projects for vulnerable children across Uganda and Sierra Leone, a charity for which I have been volunteering raising funds since 2018. 

I will be in Kasese (Southwest Uganda) from 5th to 21st August 2024, doing all kinds of works – labouring, painting, gardening, planting, teaching, sports activities, and my favourite thing... engage with kids.

The organisation has asked each volunteer to raise at least $2,500. All proceeds go directly to the projects listed below.

- Building toilet and shower blocks for girls: $5,700

- Building toilet and shower blocks for boys: $4,500

- Bedding - construction of steel bunk beds and mattresses: $7,000

- Paint and material: $800

- Building a dining hall/training hall: $24,000

- Completion of 2 classrooms in Karasundara village: $4,000

- Planting 1 acres of trees: $2,500

Project fundraising is separate to personal expenses including flights, food, local transport etc, and will be self funded.
