It is apparent that the frequency and severity of disasters is increasing and timely response is necessary for preventing loss of life and reducing distress and harm. The scope of the Disaster Relief Fund is to provide for urgent and essential humanitarian needs following a disaster. This can be in the acute phase as well as providing for needs in the intermediate and longer term phases of recovery. Examples of disasters that the fund will support: natural disasters such as flooding, earthquakes, fire. Man made disasters including war and conflict. Examples of the type of support provided by the fund include:
To ensure timely and effective use of the fund, HOPE worldwide Australia is partnering with our global network of member organisations. These include: HOPE worldwide Global Disaster Response, HOPE worldwide members in the country of the disaster and the International Churches of Christ from which volunteers are typically enlisted.
The fund is managed by members of the HOPE worldwide Australia Board together with the Country Director
