Every year thousands of dogs are left abandoned, lost and unwanted in WA pounds or surrendered by owners who are unable or unwilling to provide for them.
The Dogs’ Refuge Home in Shenton Park is one of Australia’s oldest animal welfare organisations and has been rescuing and re-homing dogs since 1935.
We believe that all dogs deserve a loving and caring home and actively work to promote responsible dog ownership.
The Dogs' Refuge Home is a large scale, kennel-based operation. We open to the public 7 days a week (including most public holidays) and at any time, we may have up to 100 dogs available for adoption.
Our annual operating costs far exceed our income from kennel operations. We rely heavily on the generosity of the dog-loving community to help us continue with our vital rescue work.
We work with a number of other rescue groups, rangers and local governments around the State to provide as many as dogs as possible with a second chance. We bring dogs down from the North-West, Mid-West, South-West and Great Southern, and actively work with key metro pounds including Armadale, Gosnells and Wanneroo.
We provide compassionate and quality care to give every dog the chance at happy new life. This includes:
Your support by either a one-off donation or a regular monthly pledge will greatly assist us in continuing to offer the best possible care and support to our dogs before we find their new forever home.
A heartfelt thanks from everyone at the Dogs' Refuge Home and especially from dogs whose lives can be changed for the better through your support.
