About this cause

The goal of Drs to PNG is to establish a long-term, annual healthcare outreach to rural communities in Papua New Guinea and other resource-limited South Pacific islands, building a sustainable legacy of healthcare and healthcare education that remains long after visiting clinicians leave.
HOPE worldwide Australia has a 35-year history of supporting health and education programs in Papua New Guinea in partnership with HOPE worldwide PNG. It works alongside local communities and national and provincial health authorities to develop healthcare in both urban and rural settings through a network of five community health clinics, treating over 100,000 people annually.
Medical mission trips will utilise trained doctors (GPs and other specialists) to provide outreach health services and point-of-care training to local health clinicians. Mission trips last from one to two weeks and prioritise healthcare provision and training aligned with excellence, compassion, humility, cultural sensitivity, and responding to real need.
Trips are coordinated with local communities and health authorities to identify health needs, gaps in services, and opportunities to strengthen the healthcare system.

Funds will support

  1. Pop-up clinics following community gatherings (e.g. church gatherings), as well as home doctor visits in areas of need.
  2. Provision of essential medications, such as antibiotics, antimalarials and deworming tablets. In addition to basic oral hygiene supplies like toothbrushes and toothpaste, water filters for locations where clean drinking water is unavailable.
  3. Provision of essential medical equipment and supplies suitable for remote settings, for example doctor’s bags, stethoscopes, pulse oximeters, blood pressure machines, blood sugar testing kits, hygiene kits, etc.
  4. Supporting travel costs for local and international doctors travelling to remote areas.

Together we can bring essential healthcare to communities that need it most — every donation helps deliver vital medicines, essential medical supplies, and compassionate experienced care to people who might otherwise go without, bringing health, dignity, and hope to remote communities.
