Dear  Members, Supporters, Friends and Allies, 

RISE was founded by an eX detainee and is fully governed by eX-detainees- this makes us unique and separates us from other refugee organisations. The number of eX-detainees needing our services continues during a severe housing and cost of living crisis; and for over 30 years, the cruelty of detention or systemic oppression towards eX-detainees has not stopped in so-called Australia. The most recent Labor anti-immigration policy has caused further trauma for the eX-detainee community. Your support will allow us to continue challenging the harmful and xenophobic refugee policies and discourse which surround eX-detainees, refugees and asylum seekers and pervade social and political spheres both locally and globally. 

We do not take government donations so we can remain independent and hence, we rely heavily on public donations to ensure that we are able to continue meeting the needs of our members and to assist those who fall through the cracks of the system. Further, RISE advocates for an essential national and international changes shift in the narrative that continues to dehumanise refugees seeking asylum.

RISE will always push for eX-detainee self-determination, and eX-detainee led campaigns and projects.

2. RISE does not accept federal, state or local government funding
3. RISE runs 18 projects throughout the year and over 3000 eX-detainees, asylum seekers and refugees are registered as members- with more waitlisted and in need of our support
4. We work on long term structural changes which support refugees' freedom and self determination
5. We run national and international refugee rights campaigns, publications and actions without any support from philanthropy or donors
6. We are not servants to any politicians- our agenda is always to defend our members
