Environmental Films Australia is a 100% volunteer-run community group and charity based in Naarm (Melbourne) that promotes action through cinema, community and connection. We prioritise climate and environments through film, provide platforms for artists to showcase their work, and create space for people to connect and exchange solutions.
Our program navigates the relationship between humans and their environments and interrogates the way people think about the natural world. We feature films from the world’s most talented and socially-conscious filmmakers, embracing diversity and championing local, Indigenous, minority and creative voices.
We’ve been running since 2010, starting out as a weekend screening event in Palace Kino (as Environmental Film Festival Melbourne) and have since hosted festivals and events throughout Australia and online. We also work with organisations and groups to host environmental film events of their own.
We receive no major funding and run solely on the support of generous donors, festival guests and festival partners. Your kind donation will allow us to continue providing impactful, accessible, and sustainable programs for the community.
Environmental Films Australia (previously known as Environmental Film Festival Australia) is a not-for-profit registered charity (DGR status). All donations greater than $2 are tax deductible. A tax receipt will be generated and sent to you.

We pay our respects to Wurundjeri Elders, past and present, as well as to all Traditional Custodians across Australia. We recognise that our festival takes place on stolen lands and that sovereignty has never been ceded. There will be no climate justice without First Nations justice. Always was, always will be, Aboriginal land.
