In Australia, only 3% to 5% of print material is available in an accessible format.

Braille is literacy for people who are blind or have low vision.
Skills such as spelling, grammar and punctuation cannot be learned through other methods like audio. Reading and writing are the fundamentals of education and without these basics, individuals would be disadvantaged.
Braille House has grown into a national organisation that teaches Braille and houses a large collection of Braille in our library.
During 2022 Braille House produced 57,237 pages braille. We do this with no charge to the reader. Borrowers simply go online to our accessible catalogue and choose a book, we post it to them, they read it and post it back.
End of financial year is a great time to support Braille House as most people are able to claim donations of $2 and over back in their tax while also supporting people who are blind or have low vision.
