The NSW Labor government promised it would establish the Great Koala National Park if elected.   Since their election, the government has refused to declare a moratorium on logging in the proposed park.   Huge bulldozers are tearing down koala habitats, wiping out Koalas, greater gliders, yellow-bellied gliders, spotted-tail quolls, birds, frogs, creatures with nowhere to go.   The terror they experience with noise, the crashing down of their trees, dust filling the air covering leaves, nests, dens.

Australians for Animals Inc is working with the Indigenous Justice Network who have mounted two legal challenges in the NSW Land & Environment Court to stop logging in compartments which are part of the proposed park.   The Network's CEO, Al Oshlack is a brilliant bush lawyer, his clients are indigenous elders whose forests and Dreamings are being destroyed.   AFA is undertaking legal research, commissioning experts and legal advice, we need funds to pay experts who are willing to appear in court, funds to cover Al's travelling costs, field trips, conferences.

The Bob Brown Foundation has given the Fund a kick start with a generous donation.   We hope to raise $20,000.  This is the last chance for koalas and greater gliders in NSW, without a refuge such as the Great Koala National Park, they and other forest dwelling species are doomed.  We can win because we MUST !
