Every year our volunteers give their time freely to walk over 160,000km, but many also drive a distance to reach their doggy friends. Over the year those kilometres add up and with the rising costs of fuel and living in general, some of our volunteers are finding that their fuel costs cause them personal hardship or have caused them to cutdown on the days per week they can volunteer.
We have created a Volunteer Fuel Subsidy Fund to allow volunteers who are themselves seniors or low-income earners to request support via a fuel reimbursement. Volunteers log their mileage when they visit client homes or when they take client animals to the vet or groomer.
We assess claims twice yearly and pay back what we can. It’s not much, but we know it helps and is greatly appreciated.
With your support we can build up funds so we can help the volunteers who are kindly walking dogs and helping to keep people and their pets together.
