Help us raise $250,000 to keep the Galiwin’ku Women’s Space providing critical services for women and families in Northeast Arnhem Land.
In the heart of East Arnhem Land, the Galiwin’ku community stands as a beacon of strength and resilience. Among its essential resources is the Galiwin’ku Women’s Space, a vital support program dedicated to empowering women and families. This Yolngu-led Aboriginal Corporation offers an array of services, including domestic violence crisis accommodation, case management, outreach support, and wellbeing programs, tailored to meet the unique needs of this remote Indigenous community.
Despite the undeniable importance of the Galiwin’ku Women’s Space, our services face a significant threat due to financial instability. Already this year, we have encountered closures and disruptions, a direct result of insufficient funds to address ongoing challenges. The continuity of our programs is at risk, jeopardising the support and safety net provided to the community.
This International Women’s Day, we turn to you with a heartfelt plea. Our goal is to raise $250,000 to secure the future of the Galiwin’ku Women’s Space. By contributing, you are not just donating; you are investing in the wellbeing and empowerment of Aboriginal women and families in one of the largest remote Indigenous communities in East Arnhem Land. Your support enables us to continue our crucial work, ensuring that every woman and family in Galiwin’ku has access to the support they need. As a charity deeply embedded in the cultural fabric of Galiwin’ku, every contribution empowers us to make a tangible difference in the lives of those we serve.

About Galiwin'ku Women's Space
At GWS, we are committed to fostering community and supporting each other, regardless of differences; we have the courage to speak up, take action and seek out the truth about how things really are; and we value humility in reaching out for advice and assistance to make good decisions.
Our gurruṯu-centred approach recognises and works through the existing Yolngu system of relatedness, care and responsibility through which family violence can be better understood and addressed.
