In Australia, 1 in 4 women experience family violence. Research shows that very few women tell the police or a specialist service first. They're more likely to tell someone they trust, like their hairdresser or beauty therapist.
Recognising the unique bond between salon professionals and their clients, HaiR-3Rs is an interactive training teaching the 3Rs: how to RECOGNISE signs of family violence, RESPOND to disclosures of violence, and REFER on to specialist services. After training, salon workers have the skills and confidence to safely guide clients experiencing abuse to professional help and support. Delivered live online, training is open to anyone in Australia working in hair, beauty and personal care services. To date, over 110 salons and 800 salon professionals have completed HaiR-3Rs training.
"HaiR-3Rs is at the forefront of the movement for equality and better, safer lives for women in Australia and around the world. I encourage every hair professional I know to become part of that future." - Adrian Panayiotis, HaiR-3Rs ambassador and owner of Delilah Hair Studio.
HaiR-3Rs receives no ongoing funding and relies heavily on corporate sponsorship and public support. Your donation empowers salon professionals to safely assist women and children experiencing family violence. For many, this can be life-saving.
