In late September 2024, massive rains swamped the refugee camps along the border of occupied Western Sahara. Hundreds of homes were inundated with families now in temporary shelter. Almost 150 families lost everything. Vital water infrastructure is damaged and Saharawi refugees are in danger of contracting water-born diseases.
By donating generously to the AWSA Emergency Appeal, you can help Saharawi refugees recover from the floods.
AWSA will send 100% of the funds raised to Oxfam in Algeria, who are working urgently to help the most vulnerable families rebuild. Just one simple brick home costs around $5,000 euros to build, and a traditional jaima tent costs around $500 AUD.
Through this emergency appeal, Australians can show our solidarity with Saharawi refugees rebuilding their lives after torrential rains.
AWSA THANKS YOU FOR SUPPORTING SAHARAWI REFUGEES.
Below: hundreds of Saharawi families will have to rebuild from the damage to homes like this one.
