What is it? The Garma Institute is the culmination of a 20 year vision to articulate NE Arnhem Lands regional solution to fill those gaps we know are so difficult for our nation to close.  From grassroots independent advice direct to the Yothu Yindi Foundation, the Garma Institute vision looks to generation 2050 to achieve education parity so Yolŋu and other Indigenous Australians achieve the same level of wellbeing and life opportunities as non-Indigenous Australians. 

The Garma Institute will operate as a distinct VET tertiary education and training facility on country, providing Yolŋu-informed learning experiences and styles. At full effect it breaks the shackles of the current barriers we know to exist and moves to an emboldened independent community answer to centrally empower Yolŋu ownership of education, as well as providing fee-free training in East Arnhem communities. 

The Garma Institute will be a Yolŋu governed and focused education institution that embeds the essence of East Arnhem to its very core and builds a source of pride and inspiration that captures the ambition of Yolngu families. 

A place that blends two worlds in unity - marrma dhukarr marngthinyarawu (two pathways to learning).  This exciting cause is the education circuit breaker for our nation.
