The National Parks Association of the ACT was set up in 1960 to establish ‘a national park for the national capital’. This was achieved in 1984 with the gazettal of Namadgi National Park, which covers 46 per cent of the ACT. Today over 400 NPA members work to protect and raise awareness of the unique flora and fauna, landscapes and natural, cultural and Indigenous heritage of Namadgi and other parks and nature reserves in the ACT region. We are part of a national network of national park associations across Australia. Our activities include:
