By giving to the 'Kids as Catalyst Treasure' you are creating a fund for emerging child philanthropists in the Kids as Catalyst program.
WHICH CHILDREN ACCESS THIS FUND?
Participants in the annual Kids as Catalyst program - 11 and 12 year old children within vulnerable communities.
Kids as Catalyst program is delivered in Victorian Primary Schools to grades 5 & 6 students.
Students form teams to focus on a passionate purpose in their local community e.g. supporting animals, the elderly, women and girls, men and boys etc...
HOW DO CHILDREN ACCESS THE FUND?
As part of the Kids as Catalyst program there is a community pitch event. Each team must pitch for funding to a panel of local community leaders.
The fund is held and administered by Kids Thrive as part of the program delivery and provided to the school to administer.
WHAT DO CHILDREN DO WITH THESE FUNDS?
Kids as Catalyst teams go out into the community and bond with a local organisation already working on their passionate purpose e.g. a wildlife animal shelter, a bike riding group for the elderly, a women's refuge in need of care packs for women fleeing family violence, a local men's shed fighting emotional isolation in men etc...
Together the children and the community organisation co-design a community action that requires them to volunteer and purchase needed materials for the community organisation and their beneficaries.
THIS IS NOT BUSINESS AS USUAL...
Remember we're talking about 11 and 12 year olds! It's amazing what they can achieve with a little upskilling and permission to 'do it yourself'.
'Before Kids as Catalyst I was just and ordinary schoolgirl, but now I'm a legend; I've made a change in the community.' Heba, aged 11
Be a big legend to create little legends. Give to the Kids as Catalyst Treasure!
