TSP Theatre Inc whose principal mission is empowering disadvantaged children in remote Indigenous communities through drama workshops and storytelling activities to strengthen their self-confidence and improve literacy. 

These children are not able to participate in such workshops like other kids in Australia and miss out on valuable learning which can help them navigate further education and job opportunities later in life. 

Many of the teachers employed in these communities leave after two years, so the children miss out on the consistent teacher-child relationship that contributes so much to a child's learning experience. 

TSP Theatre Inc. has visited one remote community for the past three years and have seen two complete changes of staff in that time. We have created deep relationships with the community, our kids have made solid friendships in the school and the community kids love it when we arrive, surrounding us and asking about the new games we'll play and what stories we'll tell. Debbie (name changed) is one child in this community who would only watch the workshops and did not want to join in the performance of a local story we had adapted for the community. We offered her the chance to assist with music and be offstage, but she would only look away or lower her head. On the day of the show, however, we asked her one more time if she would like to dress as a butterfly and be part of the experience and she said yes. It was such a special moment for us because she overcame her nervousness and fear and took a big step in her personal development.
