In 2009, Hannah Kinross, a valued MIC staff member died in the Kakoda plane crash. In her time at the MIC, Hannah worked tirelessly to promote healthy lifestyles and facilitate pathways for inclusion in healthy activities for young people and children from refugee and migrant backgrounds.
In Hannah's memory the MIC set up the 'Hannah Kinross Fund' to help children and young people from refugee and migrant backgrounds to join sporting clubs and participate other healthy activities such as dancing.
While the benefits of participating in healthy activities and sports are plentiful, often for parents of young people and children from refugee backgrounds, paying the fees for sports clubs or other activities are too great, creating vast barriers to participation.
100% of money donated to this fund will go directly towards the costs of young people and children participating in healthy activities.
