Miilan is a not-for-profit organisation, founded in September 2016 by Robert (Bob) Brown with a mission to address historical injustices and foster positive social change for Indigenous communities. Bob's vision emphasizes collaboration with Corporate Australia, leveraging a collective social conscience and commitment to justice that creates a brighter future for Indigenous peoples.
We will achieve our mission by:
▣ Improving education, employment, health, housing and training for these people.
▣ Encouraging these people to identify the missing piece or pieces of their circumstances in these categories.
▣ Assisting them to discover and define their solution to the challenges they face.
▣ Providing funding and support where possible and necessary to assist in solving their challenges asking and achieving opportunities for employment of Australian people, particularly in the fields of mining, education and health.
▣ Providing and funding technical assistance within Miilan’s five fold platform.
▣ Seeking funding wherever available to assist in the achievement of successful outcomes for the participants in the improvement of circumstances for these people.
▣ Identifying opportunities for employment and making those opportunities known to suitable employee applicants.
▣ Providing coaching for employment interviews to enhance the potential for success of the applicant in obtaining the position sought.
Today few descendents of the original inhabitants are connected to country as they once were. Settlement had a devastating effect on the people. As a result not many are connected to their country or indeed own their own land under today’s rule of law.
