About MITS
The Melbourne Indigenous Transition School is a residential transitional school in the Vaucluse, Richmond, for Year 7 aged Indigenous students from remote Northern Territory and regional Victorian communities.
Each year, up to 22 students attend MITS for one year, receiving targeted numeracy and literacy in a warm home-style environment that celebrates culture and understands the challenges of transitioning to schooling in Melbourne. Much emphasis is placed on cultural, health and wellbeing programs. Throughout the year, students undertake activities at their Partner Schools. At the end of their year with us, students transition into scholarship positions at those schools.
MITS receives generous support from many philanthropic Foundations and individuals, including Colonial Foundation, Hugh D.T. Williamson Foundation and many more.
What can you do?
