Many new migrants from Humanitarian backgrounds have additional needs on arrival that are not covered by our funded programs, including medical expenses, clothing appropriate for the Tasmanian climate and heating. 

With only a few doctors offering bulk billing, it is difficult for new arrivals to cover the medicare gap or pay for urgent medication, test or medical supplies. They may require support to access sufficient heating or warm blankets. MRC Tas is dedicated to easing their transition and helping individuals and families settle comfortably in their new homes. However, we need your support to make this possible.

We are asking for donations to our Emergency Relief Fund, which enables us to respond quickly to the urgent needs of new arrivals. Your contribution will help us provide:

• Healthcare Needs: Covering the Medicare gap and providing medical supplies.
• Warm Clothing: Supplying winter coats and clothing.
• Driving Assistance: Costs of driving tests and lessons.
• Temporary Accommodation: Housing for families in conflict.
• Basic Necessities: Snacks, drinks, and warm meals for new arrivals.
• Medical Expenses: Out-of-pocket medical costs.
• Transportation: Bicycles for independence.
