About Northey Street City Farm
Founded in 1994, Northey Street City Farm has since created a vibrant green oasis in the heart of Brisbane. Our vision is a world of abundance, connection and harmony.
Our purpose is to be an inspirational working model of a community-based urban permaculture farm, which promotes and educates for an ecologically and socially sustainable society.
Our social enterprises cover our general operating costs, but we have many environmental improvement projects that rely on donations and external funding sources.
How will the funds be used?
Funds are used to support the administration and operation of a range of programs relating to our purpose and goals. Our social enterprises cover our operating costs, but there are many environmental improvement projects we would like to fund. These include designing and constructing a nature play area, added informative signage, and planting more native bee and bird attracting plants, expanding our food growing activities, supporting our community compost hub, site works to improve our ability to withstand floods and other extreme weather events, and staff and volunteer training and support.
Key areas of expenditure: education, bush regeneration; nature play space, permaculture & sustainable living workshops and demonstrations; educational signage; staff and volunteer support; flood resilience work; community compost hub.
