Community Gardening for Success Outreach Program
Northey Street City Farm has learnt many lessons over its 30+ year history! Leveraging off our depth and breadth of experience, we offer a range of services to emerging and established community food-growing projects in the greater Brisbane area. Our support extends to schools, childcare centres, community centres, aged care facilities, retirement villages and other organisations.
Our staff can assist with all aspects of community gardening such as: planning and design, including participatory design processes; operations, including leading gardening activities for a group; and maintenance, including guidance on how to work with land owners. We offer expertise in creating dynamic and effective groups, design for climate change/flood resilience and contaminated land management.
Recent engagements include designing, implementing and maintaining a child care garden, monthly onsite coordination to reinvigorate a community gardening group and supporting a long-established group to review and redesign their decision-making processes.
How will the funds be used?
Funds raised are used to improve the environment through supporting other community gardens.
Key areas of expenditure: design and implementation, facilitation and mentorship, consultation and governance support
About Northey Street City Farm
Founded in 1994, Northey Street City Farm has since created a vibrant green oasis in the heart of Brisbane. Our vision is a world of abundance, connection and harmony.
Our purpose is to be an inspirational working model of a community-based urban permaculture farm, which promotes and educates for an ecologically and socially sustainable society.
Our social enterprises cover our general operating costs, but we have many environmental improvement projects that rely on donations and external funding sources.
