Operation Restore Hope Australia is a charity that surgically repairs cleft lips and palates for less fortunate children in the Philippines. These children can have a brighter future with your help. The charity was founded by Plastic Surgeon Dr. Darryl Hodgkinson in 1993.
A cleft lip and/or palate is a separation of the parts or segments of the lip or roof of the mouth, which are usually joined together during the early weeks in the development of an unborn child. A cleft lip is a separation of the two sides of the lip and often includes the bones or the upper gum. A cleft palate is an opening in the roof of the mouth and can vary in severity. A cleft palate occurs when the two sides of the palate do not fuse as the unborn baby develops.
We currently send missions to the Philippines as well as supporting surgeons and teams in the Philippines caring for children with birth defects and deformities, especially cleft lip and palate. How much we do is limited by our funds. The average cost of a life changing operation is $500 AUD. Every cent helps!
