Lugongwe Christian Community Centre is a multi-denominational Christian Organisation, that is committed to developing Lugongwe, a small village in Uganda, through Education from Primary through Secondary as well as Vocational training. We also have a desire to develop the community through Agricultural training, through teaching them a healthy way of living through health education and to provide them with medical facilities.
The Organisation was formed in the Adelaide Hills and is run by a board of voluntary members in South Australia, whilst our founding principals work and live between both Adelaide, South Australia and Lugongwe, Uganda throughout the year.
Our School Nurse is in place to ensure all LCCC's 200+ student's health and medical care needs are met either on site, or via a referral to the closest medical centre situated over 2hrs away via community bus in Kampala. And though our School Nurse does an amazing job, she is the only Nurse and Midwife in the village. Being 'On Call' 24/7 is incredibly exhausting, and she is at high risk of burn out.
We are seeking support to fund 3 Nursing Staff to ensure we have appropriate trained medical support for all our school students. In addition, we require larger stockpiles of standard medical supplies and first aid equipment.
With your support, we can ensure the day-to-day scrapes and grazes are treated promptly without infection, as well as treating insect transmitted diseases such as Yellow Fever and Malaria.
Please give generously.
