Honeybelll Lollipop - Australia's 1st Neighbourhood House Therapy Dog!

Honeybell's officical work title is the Director of Community Happiness and Wellbeing.

Located in the town of Morwell, Victoria, her name is Honeybell Lollipop and she is training to be the first Neighbourhood House therapy dog in Australia!

Believe it or not but 1 in every 5 Australian's either suffers, or has suffered from some sort of mental illness in their lives. Depression and anxiety make the top of the list.

Feeling low once in a while is alright. But if this is something that has been going on for a long time, you need to take this matter seriously.

In order to help those suffering from clinical depression, anxiety disorder, or want help in reducing social isolation and enhancing their wellbeing, Honeybell Lollipop is here!

Bringing Cheers and Joy, the Honeybell Way!

Honeybell is a Golden Retriever, who is training to be the first therapy dog specifically trained to work in an Australian Neighbourhood House. She is a part of the Morwell Neighbourhood House, a local organisation aiming to advance the public and social welfare of the Morwell community and its surroundings.

Honeybell, being the cute and adorable dog that she is, can easily uplift the mood of those who are feeling isolated, lonely or distressed. If you ask any pet owner (or if you have been a pet owner in the past), you'll know the joy that comes with spending time with an animal companion.

After all, when it comes to Honeybell, her favourite thing in the whole world is to snuggle. And snuggling with a fury friend has numerous mental and physical health benefits.

Evidence has shown visits from therapy dogs can help in:

  • alleviating stress on individuals;
  • improving community connections;
  • lifting spirits and reducing depression;
  • decreasing feelings of isolation and alienation
  • encouraging communication;
  • providing comfort;
  • increasing socialisation and sense of community;
  • reducing boredom;
  • decreasing anxiety.

As a Golden Retriever, it's in Honeybell's nature to be knd and friendly towards people. She can sense the emotional state of those around her and will snuggle all over to make anyone feel better.

If funds raised exceed the training requirements, additional donations will be channeled into the ongoing emergency supports and food relief that is provided by Morwell Neighbourhood House.
