Greetings from HOPE worldwide Philippines!
I am writing to you on behalf of the children supported by our seven Centers of HOPE worldwide in the Philippines. Due to the war in Ukraine and Gaza, famine and starvation in Sudan and Kenya, and long-standing civil unrest in Haiti, our five major donors in the US and Germany have shifted most of their support to these countries this year. Our US and German donor-partners, who previously provided up to US$200k annually, have notified us that they can only commit to half of their usual support this year.
Currently, our funding has been affected, and we have already cut some of our operational budget to save costs this year. We have also applied for a national fundraising permit, and prayerfully the government will release it next month so we can start raising funds locally. For the remaining months of this year, from August to December, we need an additional US$120k to cover our operations. This is the amount we lost this year from our regular donors, which we need to raise.
Our fundraising efforts starting in August will be allocated for next year's operations. Every month, we need US$42,000 to support our 75 child survivors of abuse with case management, treatment, and recovery, scholarship grants to our over 100 college and high school students, and for the 2,000 children under our feeding and advocacy programs, including livelihood support and training for indigent families and community leaders.
We are grateful to our generous donors and supporters like you. Last year alone, we served 11,097 children and families in 6 regions, 9 provinces, and 13 cities and municipalities. However, the need for our services must continue to cater to the children who are suffering from abuse, abandonment, starvation, educational disadvantages, and crushing poverty. We are committed to helping our beneficiaries through your help, and we are committed to meeting these challenges head-on.
We cannot do this without your support. Your contribution will directly support our efforts for the children we serve in our centers. No amount is too small, and every donation brings us closer to our goal. Your generosity will help us continue to make a positive impact on the lives of those we serve like Anna 9 years old and Sheila 7 years old (not real names) who was sexually abused by their biological father while their mother is busy working to provide for their needs. During the pandemic, they were often left at home with their father which was to become their worst nightmare at such a young age.
A lawsuit was brought against their biological father last year and they attended a series of hearings. They will soon be reintegrated back to their mother because their father is currently behind bars. While in the Center of Hope in Laguna, they easily built relationship with other children and underwent a series of individual and family therapy sessions to help their family recover from their traumatic experience. The program team is working out their family reintegration soon.
Your support is crucial to the success of our mission, and we are deeply grateful for your generosity. Together, we can make a significant difference and continue to give healing, recovery and build a brighter future for our dear children.
