The Pizzicato Effect
The Pizzicato Effect provides children and their families, many of whom are recent arrivals or economically disadvantaged, with the opportunity to celebrate the many joys and benefits of music making in a culturally safe environment.
We provide each child with a violin, viola or cello to keep as their own while they are studying in our program.
Our teachers are professional musicians with post-graduate qualifications and a commitment to making a difference to the lives of our students. We have a reputation for creating pathways into the world of music forchildren who otherwise would not have the opportunity to study a musical instrument.
First started by the Melbourne Symphony Orchestra in 2009, the Pizzicato Effect became an independent incorporated association in 2023 and we now depend on the generosity of donors to support our operations. We work with the Piano Project, which is a Melbourne charity supporting projects that improve access to music education.
Piano Project accepts donations on our behalf. Any amount is welcome and donations over $2 are tax deductible.
