About this cause

Encircle Ltd. is a community owned and operated organisation offering a range of support services and activities directly to the families and individuals living in the greater North Brisbane area, and working in active partnership across other areas of the Moreton Bay region.
Encircle has been in operation since 1987 and is committed to developing programs and services that support the wellbeing of community members, encourage and enable community participation, and respond to identified community issues and needs.

Encircle operates across 4 sites - Lawnton, Strathpine, Kedron and Redcliffe, and has 54 staff and 250 volunteers.

Our programs and activities demonstrate a wide variety of integrated options for the people in our region:
• Community information and referral service – as a central point of entry for the community we can either assist directly or make a referral
• Pine Rivers Community Legal Service-  free legal assistance services.
• Counselling services - generalist, domestic violence and family therapy
• Family support – outreach assistance to build and maintain nurturing family environments for kids to grow and develop.
• Adult literacy – customised support to enhance literacy and numeracy skills to enable active participation in community
• Multicultural activities – conversational English, craft group, social events, learning calendar
• Homestay program – providing support to maintain and sustain tenancies for those at risk of homelessness
• No Interest Loan Scheme (NILS) - interest-free loans for essential goods and services (e.g. washing machines, fridges, surgery) for individuals and families on low incomes.
• Seniors participation and inclusion – health and wellbeing support via flexi-ride transport options, social connection activities, bus trips and outings
• Providing community facilities at low cost to promote opportunities to connect, engage, learn and interact – management of 7 council owned facilities, meeting space options at Lawnton and Redcliffe sites.
• The Young Parents Program (YPP) is a place where young pregnant and parenting women can come together to meet other young mums and mums-to-be, to access support and information and get involved in fun group activities. The service is for young pregnant women who are 19 and under, and young mums who were teens during their first pregnancy and are still under 23. YPP runs a Pregnancy Group for first time mums-to-be as well as Young Mums Groups. Workers also provide individual support around a range of issues and experiences. YPP regularly runs different projects for young pregnant and parenting women as well as creating and participating in opportunities for community education and social action.
