The Queensalnd State Emergency Service (SES) is built on the good will of thousands of members. They are:
- people helping people
- mates helping mates
- neighbours helping neighbours.
The Queensland SES is a 'not-for-profit' organisation that shares its highly recognised name with the States and Territory SES organisations throughout Australia. With approximately 5,100 active and unpaid member, the Qld SES performs a diverse range of functions to respond to local, State and National disasters and emergencies.
SES assistance is provided for non-life threatening emergency situations during floods, storms or other similar evetns. SES also support other agencies such as Qld Police Service and Qld Fire and Rescue Service to perform additional functions and different types of disasters and emergencies such as:
- vertical rescue
- flood boat rescue
- road crash rescue
- urban, rural and evacuation searches
- emergency traffic management
- urban search and rescue
- agency support
- incident management
- community education.
The SES is designed to empower people to help themselves and others in their community in times of emergency and disaster.
SES member receive world class training providing them with real life skills which are used during emergencies, and knowledge that stays with them throughout their life. Our members are trained and equipped to help their communities across a range of functions, and their primary purpose is to assist the most vulnerable members of the community.
SES member work together with a great group of like-minded people. They train and respond to emergencies together and the experiences they share lay the foundations for life-long friendships.
The SES has a role for people with a broad range of talents and expertise. A level of physical fitness is needed especially when involved in rescues, responding to natural disasters and performing other critical roles.
All donations directly support our volunteers in their service of community and make a real and valuable difference. Donations are used to equip our volunteers to better perform their roles during disasters, emergency events and in support of community safety.
