Queensland Youth Orchestras (QYO), founded in 1966, is an acclaimed not-for-profit youth orchestra organisation. Eight orchestras, with over 500 musicians, aged from 8 to 25, rehearse weekly and perform over 50 concerts each year. QYO plays a vital part in music education in Queensland, developing the next generation of musicians and music lovers.
QYO operates with a small office staff, 100 volunteers, 8 conductors and 70 professional tutors. We rely heavily on financial support through donations, grants and corporate sponsorship to run our annual program, providing the highest level of musical experiences and community engagement, and to keep membership fees affordable for members and their families.
Donations go towards funding bursaries for musicians, artistic staff, tours, commissions, outreach activities, instruments and equipment.

QYO acknowledges the Jagera and Turrbal people who are the Traditional Custodians of the lands on which we work and their unique relationship with the lands, seas and waterways. The foundations laid by these ancestors, the original composers, teachers and musicians on these lands, inspire us. We pay our respects to their Elders, both past and present, and to all Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples.
