Radio Lollipop is a unique and stimulating charity operating 365 days of the year in Western Australia (at Perth Children's Hospital, Joondalup, SJOG Murdoch, Fiona Stanley, Armadale, Rockingham, SJOG Midland and Kalgoorlie Hospitals), Victoria (Monash Hospital), Brisbane (Lady Cilento, Mater and Logan Hospitals) and Gold Coast (Gold Coast Hospital).
The essence of the charity is based around the children's interaction with both the radio and the volunteers who visit the wards to coincide with the live broadcast.
Our volunteers visit the children in hospital to provide care, comfort, play and entertainment.
We play games, have nightly competitions, read stories, sing songs or act silly to gain a smile or a laugh from a sick child.
Children are encouraged to be the announcer, talk on air, participate in competitions or simply ring up the DJ to request their favourite song!
For the children who are unable to leave their beds, our volunteers visit them personally to ensure quality time for all.
Funds raised are put towards the purchase of more books, craft, music and prizes (and maintenance and development of our radio program) and to expand this unique service.
