Lots of hard work by many people and the support from the community has, in recent years, enabled the Brigade to fund, plan and build our station extension. This has provided us with more room for our fire fighting appliances and a greater work area for us to service our equipment and repair hoses.
With the extension completed, we are currently raising funds towards a brigade owned vehicle called a 'Slip on' or Ultra Light Tanker (ULT). This is a two door, four wheel drive utility vehicle with a tray on the back which houses a small water tank, a pump, hoses, fittings and tools. This can be driven by any member of the brigade with a valid car license to very quickly reach areas our fire fighting tankers cannot go.
With bushfire season fast approaching - we need your help more than ever.
NB - this group is auspiced under the CFA, accordingly, their DGR status comes under the authority of the CFA.
The vehicle will enable the Brigade to provide an even better service to its community with a much greater capacity for first response fire-fighting and rescue support.
Research Captain Jeff Woolnough said that having a Slip-On vehicle would make a real difference to the team at Research. "We're all volunteers and we're committed to working with the community to achieve a safer place to live. Not only are we able to take the vehicle to incidents inaccessible by the fire trucks, it also gives us the extra water carrying capacity and equipment to control a bushfire quickly and safely," the Captain said. "We're in the business of protecting our community and we really value the support demonstrated through community funding," he said.
