This fund is dedicated to providing opportunities for asylum seekers and refugees to study at university and create a future despite the uncertainty and challenges they face.

Our first recipient, Baqir, has graduated from nursing as an enrolled nurse and is now fulfilling his dream of "giving something back to Australia”. We were also able to support Caitlan for a semester of Biomedicine at a time when her family needed help.

We are now sponsoring Shayini who fled Sri Lanka at the age of 11 and overcame 8 years of disrupted education by completing her VCE in 2017. Shayini is not able to access university unless she pays upfront as an international student at a cost of ~$31,000 per annum. Thanks to this scholarship and our generous donors, she started a Bachelor in Accounting at La Trobe University in 2019 and will be able to create a future for herself and her family.
