The SA Writers Centre (SAWC) is a membership-based, not-for-profit literary incorporated organisation established in 1985. It aims to foster, develop and promote writers and writing, and to support a diverse literary culture in South Australia. The Centre, which has over 1200 members, was the first of its kind in Australia and continues to act as a resource for people of all ages and experiences, assisting both new and established writers on every aspect of craft and publishing.
Our current goals are to have :
- a strong and reputable organisation
- an innovative and accessible program
- a sustainable and visible community of writers
- collaborative partnerships that support our vision
- a diverse literary culture in Australia
We are committed to community engagement and high quality outcomes. The Centre is recognised for the work we do in developing and delivering innovative literary projects in the community, currently working in hospitals, schools, local councils and with youth, homeless and disability organisations.
We also run a have run a highly regarded program for Writers with Disability, and we run the only funded program in an Australian writers centre specifically for ATSI writers.
You can assist us in our efforts to promote reading and writing in the community, and to support the next generation of South Australian writers.
