Patients receiving chemotherapy treatment often experience hair loss which can be physically uncomfortable and emotionally distressing. Our Oncology nurses have requested a 'Scalp Cooling Machine' to minimise the impact of treatment and support patient
wellbeing.
"Cold caps or scalp cooling may help reduce the amount of hair loss for some individuals. They work by narrowing the blood vessels and reducing the amount of chemotherapy reaching the scalp." Cancer Council
Currently, Oncology patients are unable to access this important technology designed to minimise side-effects and maximise best care at Kyneton Health. Patients receive high quality care close to home in a friendly and compassionate setting. We would like to
improve our service with the introduction of a scalp cooler.
